She attended country school and graduated from Lennox High School. She continued her education at Dickinson Secretarial School in Sioux Falls. When the Army Air Base was built in Sioux Falls she was employed at the Base Signal Office as a Teletype Operator and worked there until it closed. She was united in marriage to Marvin Beeners on February 22, 1947, becoming a bookkeeper for his construction business and also became a postal clerk at the Lennox Post Office where she worked for over 20 years and also helped at Tea and Sioux Falls post offices. Following the death of her husband in 1996 she moved to Sioux Falls and she became a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Betty was a active member of her church and community. She opened a mail order business in 1970 called BeeJays Dolls and had customers from every state in the US and also foreign countries. Up until the time of her death she still operated the business. Her family and friends were especially important to her. She was a Sunday School teacher, active in Women’s Circles and served as president of the Ladies Aid and the Women’s Association, as well as treasurer of the church. She volunteered at Sioux Valley Hospital and was a member of Senior Citizens and the Lennox American Legion Auxiliary. She donated hundreds of her dolls to charitable organizations.
